Cozumel, Q.R. July 21, 2019 — Eight people were saved from their sinking boat Saturday off the shores of Cozumel when shortly into their journey, the vessel began to take on water.
Some of the crew and passengers aboard the sinking boat managed to save themselves by swimming to shore since the boat was only about 100 meters into its journey when the mishap occurred, while others were rescued by other nearby vessels.
The sinking happened in the vicinity of the hotel zone of Cozumel when the crew and passengers boarded and headed out to sea.
There is no word on what caused the boat to sink, however, since the boat was completely submerged, the Navy of Mexico attended the scene to rescue the vessel.
