On Wednesday October 2nd, Yucatán governor Mauricio Vila Dosal held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), Victoria Rodríguez Ceja, to whom he requested extraordinary resources to cover the payroll of teachers and the corresponding concepts this includes, since Yucatan is the state that allocates the highest percentage of its total economic resources to educational spending.
According to data from the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), of the 13.6 billion pesos that are allocated annually to education, the state contributes with 7.5 billion pesos, which represents 55 percent of the total expenditure that is exercised in this sector. The remaining amount is contributed by the Federal government.
It should be remembered that from 2015 to 2018 an average of 2.8 billion pesos of extraordinary resources were received annually to cover the payment to teachers, which this year have not been received and, therefore, the Governor and the holder of the Secretary of Administration and Finance (SAF) are carrying out the corresponding procedures to cover the necessary amount.
