Rescuers of stray dogs in the city of Tizimín, eastern Yucatan, reported that a dog was sewn three buttons on its left ear, which caused it to start rotting.

“Cases of animal abuse in the state continue, as the cruelty of people against animals in Yucatan is reaching levels never seen before”, said a user on the Facebook group Lomitos.

“Who can be that stupid to do this to a defenseless little animal?”, stated the post on Facebook.

According to members of “La Manada“, an association dedicated to the rescue of stray dogs in the municipality of Tizimín, a dog was sewn three buttons on one of its ears.

The group reported that they received the report that a dog had been mistreated in the “San José Nabalam” neighborhood and that locals informed them that the dog had undergone surgery.

However, the primitive and poorly done treatment, instead of helping to heal the dog’s wound, caused the animal’s left ear to start rotting, so they rescued the dog, and took it to receive the proper medical attention in order to save its ear.

Once he was transferred to a veterinarian, it was found that the dog’s ear was badly infected, which caused an internal hemorrhage that gave rise a necrosis. Fortunately, the buttons were successfully removed, and the dog’s ear cured.

La Manada” association requests support from donators and civil society to continue with their work in favor of defenseless animals in the area of Tizimin. To find out how to donate or help, they can be contacted via Facebook.
