Governor Carlos Joaquín highlighted the participation of Quintana Roo in the London Tourism Fair (International Travel Trade Show – London WTM) from November 4 to 6, where the tourism promotion of 12 destinations in the Mexican Caribbean was reinforced to attract more tourists and generate better jobs for the benefit of the state.

“From north to south, Quintana Roo dazzles everyone at this important international tourist fair with its spectacular natrual beauties,” said the governor of Quintana Roo.

The 12 destinations that were promoted are: Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Riviera Maya, Maya Ka´an, Chetumal, Bacalar, Puerto Morelos, Cozumel and Mahahual.

The Quintana Roo delegation in London, headed by the secretary of Tourism Marisol Vanegas Pérez and the general director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, Darío Flota Ocampo, had for the first time pavilion of its own, where various meetings with international tour operators and representatives of travel agencies took place, as well as interviews with media from the United Kingdom, Mexico and Russia.

“The United Kingdom is the main strategic European market for Quintana Roo; as it reports an average stay of 9.2 days. That’s why, our participation in the World Travel Market in London, with a Mexican Caribbean pavilion is very important, in order to promote our fantastic tourist destinations,” said Governor Carlos Joaquin.

During 2018, 459,953 British tourists arrived in Quintana Roo.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SEDETUR) Marisol Vanegas Pérez held a strategic meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth of Nations, with whom she discussed issues of common interest, such as the zero cases of cyclopora in British tourists.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth of Nations – an organization responsible for protecting and promoting British interests around the world – recognized the Government of Quintana Roo for the attention it provides to English tourists, through the Guest Assist platform”, said Secretary Marisol Vanegas Pérez.

Within the framework of the work tour in London, the director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo Darío Flota Ocampo reported that British Airways currently has four weekly flights, announced a fifth and sixth new frequencies for the summer of 2020, with which Cancun will have daily flights to London, in addition to new charter operators.
