Mérida resident Rossana Cab reported through a video on her Facebook account that she was victim of discrimination and “classism” by another woman in a movie theater in northern Merida. The mother would have gone with her five-year-old daughter to an evening feature presentation of the movie “Frozen 2”.
In the Facebook publication, Rossana details how her little daughter Keila was so very excited to go watch the children’s film, that she decided to dress her as “Elsa”, the main character of the movie. However, once inside the movie theater, another client confronted here regarding the child’s behavior, and according to Rossana, this person attacked her with racist comments.
“Educate your mother”, “put a leash on your daughter” or “shut up you “nopal” face”, were some of the comments that mother and daughter allegedly received from the agressor.

According to the woman’s testimony, the alleged aggressor declared to be an American citizen. She yelled at the child, telling her that she had no education, values and affection“.
At one point in the video, little Keila speaks and says that she and her mother cried after the “scolding.”
“We are crying because the lady educated us,” she added.
In another video that the mother shared on Facebook, it can be seen how the cinema employees dialogue with the other woman, who asks for “her right to speak” before the accusations against her.
