Yucatán was selected to host the most important big scale theatrical event in the country, as a result of the efforts of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, through the Secretariat of Culture and Arts (Sedeculta), to professionalize and promote local artistic talent and creation.
The 41st edition of the National Theater Show (Muestra Nacional de Teatro MNT), organized by the Federal Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal), in coordination with the state agency, will be held in November 2020.
This initiative, which began in 1978, is basically a space for representation where creators, critics, directors and theater programmers converge, in which Yucatan has a notable presence every year, due to the high quality of the plays it presents and which are chosen by call.
The MNT proposes to take advantage of the force that community action can have from the theatrical territory, taking into account its different approaches, with different theories, practices and traditions, making us aware of our different realities.
Mérida was the MNT venue back in the year 2000, when the “White City” welcomed more than 20 theatrical plays staged in the main theaters of the city.
And now, 20 years later, the state capital has enough infrastructure, in addition to alternative spaces, for the optimal development of this event that brings together artists from across the nation.
