After airplane raffles, economic stagnation and his unfortunate statements regarding violence against women, the president has received much criticism.

MEXICO (Times Media Mexico/Reporte Indigo) – Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) began 2020 with a 71 percent approval rating, but after airplane raffles, economic stagnation and his unfortunate statements to combat insecurity in the country, he has received much criticism.

After a quick investigation we realized that AMLO’s biggest critic is… AMLO of the past. But… what do we mean with that? Keep reading.

In 2017, Andrés Manuel López Obrador wrote: “Napoleon said: “If crime and offences increase, it is evidence that misery is on the increase and that society is badly governed”.

2019, AMLO’s first year in office, has been the most violent year in Mexico. According to official data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SNSP), between January and December 2019, 34,582 victims of intentional homicides were registered in Mexico. Approximately 94 people were killed every day.

In 2014, López tweeted: “In January the economy grew 0.8%, that is, nothing. EPN and Videgaray don’t know how to do it. Sorry, but with us it would be different and better”.

Also in 2014 AMLO said:While they entertain (people) with other things, the economic stagnation, the lack of jobs and everything that should really matter to them continues.”

In 2019, the Mexican economy registered a growth of 0.1 percent. The real percentage variation during the first 9 months of 2019 with respect to the same period in 2018 is 0.0 percent.

According to the Financial, 2020 with a slower pace in job creation, resulting from the weakening of economic activity. The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reported that in January 2020 68,955 jobs were created, the lowest figure for the same month since 2015.

In 2015, Lopez Obrador said: “If at least the security cabinet does not resign, there will remain the idea that there was complicity at the highest level in Chapo’s escape”.

In October 2019, after a failed operation Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán was arrested and later released. This confirmed by Alfonso Durazo Montaño, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, an action that was highly criticized.

In 2009, AMLO said: “Isn´t  better to collect the 120 billion pesos owed to the tax authorities by the companies of Slim, Zambrano and Larrea, instead of “*bolsear” (*to take what is inside people´s pockets) the vast majority

However, in November 2019, the president praised Carlos Slim Helú and even gave the Mexican businessman the “National Engineering Award”.

López Obrador said that Slim is an “austere and sober man” and that he is a socially responsible businessman.

In 2015, he said: The migrant viacrucis led by Father Solalinde came out. *EPN (*Enrique Peña Nieto) instead of harassing them should guarantee them freedom of transit”

In recent months, elements of the National Guard dismantled the migrant convoy using tear gas and withdrawing people.

The event was criticized, even by supporters of the president, such as Morena’s federal congressman, Porfirio Muñoz, who called the action a “savage aggression”.

In 2014, AMLO wrote: Not even with all the telethons in the world could Televisa compensate for the serious damage caused to the people of Mexico as part of the power mafia

In October 2018, during the presentation of Televisa News Content Studios, President López Obrador described the television station as “extraordinary”.

“The company is extraordinary for the country,” said López Obrador in an interview with Denise Maerker. And in 2019, the president announced that he would participate in the Teleton and asked Mexicans to do the same.

In 2015 he said:It is unfortunate that Ana Gabriela Guevara is campaigning for the PRI candidate in Sonora. The PRIAN is just as corrupt”

Later in 2018, AMLO made Ana Gabriela Guevara the head of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), which is currently under investigation for irregularities and corruption

It has been 14 months since Andrés Manuel López Obrador became president of Mexico… During that time we have seen a “war” against huachicol (gasoline theft), gas station ‘crisis’, exploding pipelines, an unsold presidential airplane, a cancelled airport, a Mayan train that threatens to destroy the Mexican jungle and its ecosystem, the construction of a refinery eventhou the world is becoming “green” and National Guardsmen beating inmigrants to pulp, just to name a few controversies.

We know that for the most faithful followers of AMLO he is incapable of making a mistake, falling into a contradiction or even tell lies -which he does very often.-

Fortunately for us and unfortunately for him, during his 12 year presidential campaign he has left quite a digital record of all his occurrences… and some of them have not aged well at all.
