Mérida, Yucatán, (October 29, 2021).- As part of the works to install urban implements for the collection of rainwater, the Mérida City Council installed the drainage systems in the overpass “Paso Deprimido”, located on the intersection of Prolongacion de Paseo de Montejo with Circuito Colonias.
It should be remembered that when the rehabilitation works began in that road distributor, the drainage grids were removed, which received maintenance work and were put into the shelter and placed again one week later. In the north lane, rainwater entered the Prolongación de Montejo avenue, which exceeded the 4 wells of 60 meters deep for the rain discharge that were originally installed for that purpose in the area.
Likewise, the previous cistern had a capacity of 360 cubic meters, and to improve the collection of rainwater, the new cistern was installed, which has an absorption capacity of 412 cubic meters of water, which is dislodged by means of four pumps that have separate pipes to the discharge duct, this cistern is equivalent to having an Olympic pool below the bearing surface.
Finally, these works to install the drainage systems and the grids are in addition to those carried out to improve road safety in the area, such as the placement of 20 LED lights along the entire route that provides visual comfort.
In addition, signage was placed that establishes 3.5 meters (11 feet) as the maximum height.
