World Bank financing is 57% higher than recorded during Enrique Peña Nieto’s administration.
(CDMX – El Financiero) – Halfway through the six-year term of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, financing granted by the World Bank amounts to 3,855 million dollars, 57% higher than the 2,462 million dollars registered during the entire term of Enrique Peña Nieto.
However, as reforms are implemented in Mexico that clash with sustainable development objectives and the fight against climate change, there is a risk that such financing will be limited, according to experts.
“To the extent that some of the objectives clash with the World Bank’s premises, some of the credits could become more difficult, but the truth is that, if some issues are complicated, in others the opportunities would open up without any major problem. There are no significant amounts for the Mexican debt structure, there is nothing to worry about there”, said Héctor Villareal, general director of the Center for Economic and Budgetary Research (CIEP).
