On Monday, December 20th, an explosion was recorded in an underground installation of the CFE in the center of Mérida.
MÉRIDA, Yucatán.- In the early hours of this Monday, Dec. 20th, an explosion was registered in an underground installation of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in the streets of downtown Mérida.
According to the report of the Municipal Police of Mérida (PMM), at 4:41 am this Monday, the corporation became aware of an explosion, in an underground search of the CFE, located on Calle 61 by 58, causing the suspension of the electricity supply in a part of the Historical Center.
Upon hearing the explosion, agents of the corporation moved to the scene and observed that smoke was coming out of the underground installation, the grate and the lid were raised by the police officers to see what was going on.
The police agents flagged the area to avoid an incident and carried out tasks to regulate the traffic in the area.
In the same way, personnel belonging to the Road Engineering department proceeded to place high discs on streets 65 by 60, 63 by 58, and 60 by 61 to prevent road accidents.
Hours later, CFE personnel arrived at the scene to carry out repair work on the fault and restore the electricity service.
