Representatives approve by majority to extinguish and liquidate the House of State Crafts
MÉRIDA, Yucatan, (December 11, 2021).- The Yucatan ‘Casa de las Artesanías’ disappears, but as a decentralized body, since now all its functions and attributions will be integrated into the Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurs (IYEM).
It should be noted that there is also an initiative for the IYEM to change its name and become the Institute for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Crafts.
Yucatan House of Handicrafts disappears
In a session of the Committee on Constitutional Points and Governance held this Friday, December 10th, the representatives approved by majority the draft opinion to extinguish and liquidate the ‘Casa de las Artesanías’ of the State of Yucatan represented by the State Government.
When speaking, the representative from the Movimiento Ciudadano political party, Vida Gómez Herrera, reported that, in a plenary session, she will deliver an initiative for the Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurs to change its name to Institute for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Crafts.
In said law, specific sections will be included that benefit and have artisans incorporated into the new institute.
Likewise, the representative Gaspar Quintal Parra (PRI), specified that what is being extinguished is the decentralized body, not the House of Handicrafts, since all the functions and powers that the public body has is being transferred to the Institute for Entrepreneurs to become one with IYEM.
It should be noted that the Casa de las Artesanías del Estado de Yucatán was founded in 1978. The headquarters of La Casa de las Artesanías is in the Monjas neighborhood, on Calle 63 (between 64 and 66) in the Historic Center of Mérida.
