Mérida, Yucatán, (December 08, 2021) .- With the aim of promoting contraceptive methods in men, the Regional Hospital of High Specialty of the Yucatan Peninsula (HRAEPY) announces the free Vasectomy Campaign without a scalpel, for the population without the right to have access.
Focused on the male population 18 years of age and older, who already have or do not want to have children, this contraceptive method is a safe and irreversible procedure that also benefits women by preventing unplanned pregnancies in addition to promoting responsible parenthood.
This is an outpatient procedure, that is, it does not require hospitalization and among the essential requirements is to agree to a permanent contraceptive method.
For this, Dr. Michel Bastarrechea explains that in a first visit “the patient undergoes a routine review, a file is opened for the clinical history, laboratory studies are requested and they are asked to sign the consent to schedule the intervention in the operating room ”.
In addition, he pointed out that it is a simple procedure where a puncture is made in the skin where the testicles are, to later tie and cut the vas deferens through which the sperm pass.
The vas deferens is a long, muscular tube that travels from the epididymis into the pelvic cavity, to just behind the bladder. The vas deferens transports mature sperm to the urethra in preparation for ejaculation.
During the month of December, HRAEPY will provide this free service for patients who do not have Social Security (IMSS, ISSTE) in the Outpatient Urology area from Monday to Friday with office hours from 08:00 to 14:00 hours.
