MÉRIDA, Yucatán, (December 8, 2021).- In the first seven days of December, hotels in the city report an occupancy of 60 percent, a figure that will tend to rise in the second half of the month and as the end of the year approaches, especially if contagions Covid-19 continues to decline, confirmed leaders of the Yucatan hotel and tourism sector.
The president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Mérida (Canacome), Iván Rodríguez Gasque, pointed out that the hotel sector of the city registers a good number of occupancies in the first days of December.
He added that at the start of the holiday season the first reports from his associates in the tourism sector speak of a good rhythm in the arrival of visitors, coming from abroad and from the center of the country.
It is expected that after the 17th, vacationers from the region will begin to arrive.
Meanwhile, the Mexican Association of Hotels in Yucatan (AMHY) estimated an average occupancy of 60 percent for the entire month of December, this with the arrival of more national and foreign tourists.
The president of the AMHY, Juan José Martin Pacheco, announced that the occupancy estimates for the month of December in the hotel sector amount to 60 percent.
“I think we can talk that at least we will have 60 percent occupancy for the December vacation period, which is the Christmas and New Year period. The good expectation is due to the response that has been had with the control of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is an incentive for more people to decide to come to the state and leave an important economic spill that will help to have a good end of the year “, said.
