Mérida, Yucatán, (December 13, 2021).- In the last 5 days, a total of 82,175 vaccines were administered in Yucatán, including boosters for older adults and first doses for adolescents aged 15 to 17 years, from Mérida and 67 municipalities in the interior of the state, a process that continues to advance at a good pace.
Last Tuesday, the state became one of the first in the country to start with the distribution of reinforcements from the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, for people aged 60 years and over, of which, to date, 2,000 have been administered, while that the group from 15 to 17 has been given 80,175, from that same day.
This Saturday 11th, a new batch with 158,930 doses arrived in the territory; 125,000 are AstraZeneca for seniors and 33,930 are Pfizer, for adolescents 15 to 17 years, in boundaries that will be released in the coming days.
Result of the coordinated work between the Yucatan Health Secretariat (SSY), the Armed Forces, the different levels of government, and the citizens, to date, in the entity, a total of 2 million 845,853 vaccines against the Coronavirus have been applied. Since the vaccination operation began, 3,151,099 doses have arrived in the state.
As the father of the family, Erick Alexander Caballero expressed his joy that his 2 children, both 15 years old, have already agreed to their first defense, as it represents peace of mind for them and protection for the young.
“I feel better because they already have protection against this disease, it is something that we have been waiting for a long time.
We cannot be so confident, because the pandemic continues, but we are already a little calmer, ” he said.
Recognizing that this process in Yucatán has been very agile and orderly, Addy Briceño Chan stressed that the vaccine represents, for both children and adults, a life expectancy, since the pandemic, unfortunately, has left many families incomplete, so counting, even with the first dose, means a great relief and tranquility for the population.
She is the mother of 2 adolescents, 12 and 15 years old, and assured that it is necessary for all young people to be protected, for which she thanked the State Governments for developing this strategy for the youngest.
