Man in preventive prison for attempted murder in Downtown Merida

Mérida, Yucatán, (December 27, 2021).- After executing an arrest warrant executed in a coordinated manner between the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) , A.H.R. was presented before the First Control Judge of the First Judicial District, accused of the crime of attempted homicide, for which he was charged and in the same hearing related to the process after the events that occurred in recent days in the Center of Mérida, for which he will remain in preventive detention.

The litigation prosecutors began the integration of the investigation folder under criminal case 345/2021, where they established that on December 20, the defendant attacked the victim with a firearm, who suffered injuries that kept him hospitalized at risk of losing his life due to the attack that occurred on 68-73 street in the city center.

During the hearing held at the Oral Justice Center of Mérida, the litigation prosecutors formulated the accusation of the crime and presented the evidence obtained in the investigation and requested that the accused be linked to the process, which was granted, granting a period of three months to close the investigation

Before concluding the diligence, this social representation presented the arguments to support the request for the informal preventive detention as a precautionary measure, which was granted by the Control Judge for the entire time that the process lasts, for which the accused will remain private of his freedom until his participation in the events is clarified
