National Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament to take place in Yucatan, Dec. 8 to 12

Mérida, Yucatán, (December 06, 2021).- Just a few days ago the Tourist Tianguis was held in this city, and later the Pok Ta Pok World Cup was held and from December 8 to 12, Yucatan will become the home of Mexican rhythmic gymnastics with the National Fundamentals Tournament, which again will place the entity in the center of attention of the country.

For this fair, the performance of around a thousand exponents from 22 States of the Republic has already been confirmed. The competition will take place in the Zamná Polifórum and alternatively in the “Socorro Cerón Herrera” Multigym at the Kukulcán Sports Complex.

Sáenz Castillo recalled the significance of this modality for Yucatán, given that for many it was erected as the great power of Mexico, fighting for supremacy mainly with Tamaulipas, which earned the Boxitas representatives the denomination of “Reinas del Mayab”.

“For us it is important to rescue a discipline such as rhythmic gymnastics that has given so much glory to the State and that had fallen into a generational slump, in which today we are working hand in hand with the Academies and the clubs,” he added.

It should be noted that will be days of intense activity for this specialty since immediately after the National Fundamentals Tournament, the Yucatan Cup will take place.

“In a sports tourism scheme, we are talking about five hotel nights, where the gymnasts by the categories in which they participate and by the Christmas season are accompanied by their parents. It is a great area of ​​opportunity that the State has, with the issue of infrastructure, but above all safety and quality, ” he said.

Therefore, a whole party is expected with the presence of Gustavo Salazar Ortiz, president of the Mexican Gymnastics Federation; as well as Laura Acosta Rodríguez, national technician of the discipline.
