Cozumel, Quintana Roo, (December 15, 2021).- A total of 97 cruise ships arrived in Cozumel in November, bringing with them 175,528 passengers, which makes it the best period of the year since the reactivation of arrivals.

According to sources within the Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), on the island of swallows, the berth statistics indicate that from January to November 2021, 230 cruisers have arrived.

At the close of the municipal administration 2018-2021, the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development announced that at the end of 2021, cruise companies scheduled at least 400 ships. However, to reach this figure, some 170 floating hotels must be received in December.

On June 16, the cruise ships returned to Cozumel and since then each month the number of berths at the “Puerta Maya”, SSA México, and “Punta Langosta” docks has increased.

The source, who asked not to be cited for not being authorized to disclose the details of the evolution of the statistics regarding the number of ships and passengers, highlighted that the sample of this monthly increase is November which represents 43.45% of the 403,993 passengers who arrived in 11 months.

November also meant an increase of more than 100% in the number of passengers, since in that period more than 175 thousand cabin occupants were counted, 89 thousand 748 more than in the month of October when the logs pointed to 85 thousand 780 clients, the informant said.

Regarding the economic spill and based on the per capita spending of $ 170 estimated by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), which its clients spend in Cozumel, it can be said that this was 68 million 678 thousand 810.
