Mérida, Yucatán, December 22, 2021.- In response to Commitment 54 of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador related to the relocation of federal government agencies, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources began the process of decentralization to the Yucatecan capital.
In the first stage and before the end of this year, six areas of this agency will be relocated, among which are the office of the Secretary, the Undersecretariat for Environmental Policy and Planning, the coordinating units for Social Participation and Transparency, and International matters; the General Directorates of Policies for Climate Change, and of the Primary Sector and Renewable Natural Resources.
These offices will operate in the following buildings, for which no recourse will be made for leasing:
- Yucatan Basin Hydrometeorological Center of the National Water Commission.
- Upper floor of the National Forestry Commission building.
- “Casa Semarnat” from the agency’s representative office in Yucatán.
Given that a larger space is needed to house all the personnel of the Secretariat, for the moment the rest will continue working in the central facilities, located at Army National 223, Col. Anáhuac, Mexico City, so services will not be interrupted nor will the dispatch of matters in charge of the agency be affected at all.
