A suspect wanted on charges of fraud, who had in fact an Interpol “Red Notice” was arrested at the Cancun International Airport. Authorities reported the arrest of Eduardo N after landing in Cancun on a flight from Miami.
Agents of the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with elements of the National Guard and the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office, made the arrest.
The 49-year-old man was taken into custody due to an arrest warrant for fraud against several agencies including the Mexican government. Authorities reported that according to investigations, Eduardo N owns five companies that he uses as front companies to commit fraud.
The FGR in Mexico City said that Eduardo N was granted a concession with which he would replace the taxi meters in all Mexico City units with a digital system operated through tablets, however, he did not make the change.
He has been accused of defrauding small national and foreign investors, as well as government agencies.
“Intelligence work deployed by elements of the Investigative Police (PDI) of the Coordination of Compliance and Execution of Judicial Orders, as well as the issuance of a Red Notice from Interpol and immigration alerts from the National Institute of Migration, allowed us to locate the individual in the Cancun International Airport, Quintana Roo,” the Mexico City prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
He has since been transferred to Mexico City and admitted into the “Reclusorio Sur” Prison.
