The Mérida Fest ended on Sunday, January 23rd. Due to the rebound in cases due to the coronavirus pandemic, this 2022 edition did not have massive events, and had controlled capacity.

(MERIDA, YUC. – CITY COUNCIL).- According to Irving Berlin Villafaña, director of culture for the Mérida city council, it was thought that January could be a month with an uptick in infections, due to the holiday season, and they anticipated it, establishing protocols that protect attendees.

Unlike previous years, Mérida Fest 2022 was controlled with electronic ticketing through a platform, which allowed everything to be perfectly controlled, and guarantee a healthy distance between event attendees.

“The city festival did not attract any massive event that could have a thousand, five thousand or thirty thousand people, we did not have events of that type, in fact there were no popular dances because it involves a lot of people,” he explained.

The festival ends this January 23, and according to the municipal official they do not consider that at any time the health of the Meridanos was put at risk, and that on the contrary, conducive to economic and artistic reactivation

“The festival was designed for this moment, to bring joy to the people of Merida, with caravans that do not involve a concentration of people, we have many tourists in the city, and therefore we are certain that we are contributing to economic reactivation and protecting health ”, reported.
