Yucatan begins its participation in Fitur 2022 with the right foot

The Madrid Tourism Fair (FITUR), is the most important global meeting point for professionals in the sector and the leading fair for receptive and issuing markets in Latin America. A great event that serves to inaugurate the international circuit of appointments around the world of travel.

(MADRID, SPAIN – SEFOTUR).- This Wednesday, January 19th, the activities of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2022 officially began in Madrid, Spain, with Yucatan as part of the Mexican delegation, as part of the strategies to promote the destination and generate more jobs.

There, it seeks to generate more business meetings and collaboration agreements with other sites, airlines, European wholesale agencies and more, to strengthen the local offer in the market of that continent and increase the number of visitors, since Spain is one of the niches with overnight of greater growth, during the present administration.

The head of Sefotur, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, attended the ribbon cutting of the Mexican pavilion this morning, along with her counterparts from Puebla, Oaxaca, Los Cabos, Nuevo León and Riviera Nayarit, among others, and the federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués.

Among the highlights of the day, the official participated in the signing of the TAG Airlines agreement with the states that make up the Mundo Maya region (Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco and Yucatán), considering that they share common interests in the matter.

With this, they will be able to grow under a perspective of cooperation and integrated development levels, which will allow them to take advantage of their markets and establish joint initiatives, both for promotion and expansion for the Mexican southeast, towards national and international interest.

The objective of this agreement is to establish mechanisms for entities to join forces, in the areas of their respective powers, in order to structure projects related to the dissemination of the Mayan World, generating greater connectivity with Guatemala.

Yucatan held important meetings with companies such as Juliátours, Avasa, Platinum Travel, Catai, Edreams, Tour Diez and Jumbo Tours, among others; the WTTC; the Embassy of Mexico in Spain; the Pan-American Confederation of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Tourism Schools, and the City Councils of the Iberian cities Valladolid and Mérida, in order to achieve twinning.

Also, Fridman Hirsch took advantage of the presence of the media to continue promoting the destination, including Agencia EFE, Grupo Excelencias, Radio Nacional de España and DW Magazine, to name a few.

Fitur is considered the best fair of its kind in the world, because Madrid is the gateway to the important traveler market in Europe, as a meeting point for professionals in the sector, and the inbound and outbound segments of Ibero-America.

At the inauguration of this 2022 edition, the kings of Spain, Felipe VI and Leticia Ortiz, were present. It takes place until January 23, with the participation of other destinations, businessmen, wholesale agencies, airlines and hotel chains that, for three consecutive days, hold business meetings and presentations of the world’s tourist offer.

It should be remembered that Yucatan is rich in diversity of natural, cultural and heritage attractions, such as its impressive cenotes, 378 kilometers of beautiful beaches, wide and varied fauna, and archaeological sites of world importance, such as Chichen Itza and Uxmal.
