Man caught stealing 8,000 pesos worth of merchandise from a department store in Merida

Mérida, Yucatán, June 17, 2022.- N.A.V.A. tried to steal more than eight thousand pesos in merchandise, from the sports area of ​​a department store located in the Altabrisa subdivision, he was caught in the act, arrested, charged, and linked to the process for the crime of qualified robbery.

The merchandise consisted of several clothing items from the Sears Operadora México S.A. de C.V. department store. He was detected by the security guards of the place and detained by police officers.

The events occurred on June 12 and the investigation folder R1-82-2022 was prosecuted before the First Control Judge of the First Judicial District, who found sufficient elements in the evidence presented by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), for which he resolved in favor of the accusing party.

Justifiably, the litigation prosecutors requested the precautionary measure of preventive detention, which was granted by the Judge, who also granted a period of two months to close the investigation.

The sentence is yet to be determined by the corresponding authorities, meanwhile, the man will remain in prison during the process.
