The Second Festival of the Souls will be held from October 31 to November 2, at the general cemetery and the park of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, located in front of the cemetery, as part of the celebrations of the Day of the Dead and Hanal Pixan in Valladolid.
According to a program released by the City Hall, on Monday, November 31, in the park of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, there will be the inauguration of the Hanal Pixán altar exhibition, followed by a presentation of the Yumilbeh folkloric ballet, then the local singer Marisol Centeno and in the afternoon the “La Aurorita” Jaranero orchestra will perform.
On November 1, an event called “Relato de Cuentos y Leyendas” will be organized by the Association of Poets and Writers of this city, then the play “Fieles Difuntos” (Faithful Departed) will be presented inside the general cemetery.
In the evening the “Vaquería de las Ánimas” will be performed by the folkloric groups Yumilbeh and Lakín Lol. On this day it is expected that the departure of the souls from the cemetery will take place as a staging, which will go to the altars to eat what is prepared for them and placed on the tables.
On the 2nd, when family visits to the cemetery are made, at 7 and 9 a.m. and 5 in the afternoon masses will be celebrated at the gates of the cemetery, and at the end of the third Eucharistic celebration there will be native dances performed by the group “Mexicanarte”, and finally, at 7 p.m. the singer, Lisandro Ontiveros will perform, concluding the activities for the Day of the Dead.
The general cemetery already has a new paint job, and improved street lighting, and the potholes on the access road were repaired, among other works that were done, so it is now ready for the activities, even several people are already coming to clean the graves of their deceased loved ones.
