The Merida Municipal Police Department deployed an operation to reinforce security in the area of markets, flower stores and urban transportation stops so that the Days of the Dead can take place peacefully and without incidents.
According to a press release, the operation is in preparation for the preparations for the altars for the Day of the Dead and visits to the city’s cemeteries.
(Diario de Yucatán).- Likewise, the corporation will develop a traffic operation that began on October 28, for the activities of the Paseo de las Ánimas, whose route will be from the General Cemetery to San Juan Park.
“It is planned to protect the members of the route as well as the councils, guilds, and families that will be stationed along 66th Street and surrounding areas”.
As of this morning, the Municipal Police added 30 elements to the foot patrols that are carried out in the markets and public transportation stops to ensure that shopping and transfers are carried out without incidents.
Likewise, in the streets surrounding the markets, there will be agents and motorcycles verifying that the roads flow smoothly. A total of 300 municipal police officers will be deployed in different security and road operations in the Historic Center.
This November 1st and 2nd there will be municipal police, in coordination with the Secretary of Public Safety, in the city’s cemeteries to protect the integrity of those who come to honor their deceased loved ones.
To guarantee a safe entrance to the cemeteries, the municipal corporation will maintain elements at the entrances, there will be walkers inside and units and paramedics to provide emergency services where required.
Finally, the Merida Police will maintain its usual vigilance in conjunction with these special operations to safeguard the safety of citizens this weekend as the commemoration of the faithful departed begins.
