According to the Campeche State Secretary of Tourism, Mauricio Arceo Piña, they are in the process of developing tourism products that will allow visitors to stay in the state and generate investment in the sector, although he said he was unaware of the investment in hotels in Calakmul and Edzná announced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

He stated that they are working hard on the tourism product, as it is important for the State to have these options, which can even bring about private investment, and detailed that this is what they intend to carry out throughout 2023, especially along the route of the Mayan Train, both in the northern zone of Calkiní, as well as in the southern zone of Escárcega-Xpujil.

He indicated that it is important to have services, in addition to the fact that many areas will be strengthened with the arrival of tourists, thanks to the federal railway project, however, he added that “for this we have to offer a product, so that people stay and stay in those places for a few days”.

He admitted not knowing about the investment in hotels revealed by the Federal Executive, but insisted that the most important thing is to work on the tourist product, with that will come private investment to be able to grow economically”.

On the other hand, regarding the arrival of new airlines to provide the connection with Mexico City, he expressed that they are in negotiations, although he acknowledged that “we have not yet reached a definitive agreement; we have not released it, so we hope to obtain information to share with you.
