Enjoy these sunny days in Merida with a delicious and fresh aguachiles recipe. Preparing an aguachile is very easy since you only need to prepare a sauce in the blender that will give the spicy flavor to this dish and with which we will marinate the shrimp.
Ingredients
- 400 gr to 500 gr raw shrimp
- ¾ cup lemon juice
- ½ cucumber, peeled and seeded
- 2 to 4 serrano chiles, chopped
- ½ cup cilantro leaves
- ¼ red onion, sliced
- Corn tostadas to serve
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Directions
Peel and clean the shrimp, remove the head if they still have it and the vein or black strip. Cut them lengthwise to make a butterfly cut, you can cut them all the way through or leave the shrimp with the butterfly shape.
Peel the cucumber, cut in half, remove the seeds and cut into half moons.
Blend the lime juice, serrano chile, cilantro, salt and pepper. If you don’t like it too spicy you can remove the seeds from the serrano chile before blending, if you like it too spicy leave the seeds and add more chile to taste.
Place the shrimp in a bowl or plate, cover with the lime and chile mixture and marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
After this time, mix with the cucumber in half moons and the red onion.
Season to taste (if necessary) and serve with tostadas.
