The Federal Ministry of Health announced that Yucatan is among the top 10 states with the highest incidence of influenza infections.

According to said data, so far in 2022, there are 284 cases, being one of the most alarming data due to the fact that the problem is 13 times higher than the total of the last three years, since in 2019 there were 215, in 202 there were 149 positives.

According to statistics, this disease is gaining ground in the country, having the highest incidence in Nuevo León, with 974, being 34.86 percent; followed by Querétaro, with 802 contagions, being 28.7 percent, in contrast to Chiapas with six confirmed cases, representing 0.21 percent and Oaxaca with 31 cases.

Of the three states of the Yucatan Peninsula, Yucatan surpasses Campeche and Quintana Roo, with 73 cases, respectively, and occupies number nine on the national list.

Unfortunately, as it usually happens in the case of Covid-19, influenza can turn deadly, and Yucatan is no exception, since seven people died from this disease.

It is worth mentioning that it is noteworthy that the deaths occurred outside the inter-seasonal season corresponding to weeks 21 to 39.

In view of the incidence of influenza in Yucatan, citizens are advised to take precautions and health authorities remind that the influenza vaccine is already available.
