Femicide shocks the Yucatecan society

The death of young Yeimy Berenice has shaken the Yucatecan society after she was reported missing and found dead inside a well in Merida. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced how she died.

Through a press release, the FGE informed the causes of death of the 25 year old woman, after the Forensic Medical Service determined through an autopsy that the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia by strangulation.

The death of the young woman is being investigated by the FGE and agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI), of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), who initiated the investigation file which was registered in the file G5/006/2023.

It was reported that the personnel of the Secretariat of Women’s Affairs (Semujeres) and the State Executive Commission for Attention to Victims (Ceeav) are working in coordination with the security authorities to attend to the case.

Search for alleged murderer of Yeimy Berenice

After confirming that Yeimy was a victim of femicide, authorities are looking for the alleged perpetrator, being the main suspect a known man, who was the person who saw her alive for the last time.

The young woman was in the Kukulcan shopping plaza, where it is presumed that she met with the man, and it was after several days that she was found lifeless in a property south of the city.

Through social networks, relatives of the young woman shared a photo of the alleged perpetrator of her death.

Unofficially it was indicated that after the discovery of Berenice’s body, the aforementioned subject did not show up for work, so suspicions are growing, however, so far there is no mention of anyone arrested for the death of Yeimy Berenice.
