A fire of great proportions occurred this Sunday at the Alma de Tulum hotel, currently insured by the State Attorney General’s Office, located in the coastal area of this municipality. A total of nine palapas were lost, but no one was injured.

The fire spread quickly through the guano roofs, due to the strong wind, damaging nine palapas in depth. Firefighters arrived at the site, at kilometer 8.5 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway, and controlled the fire, the causes of which are unknown.

The hotel has been insured since November 2022 by the State Attorney General’s Office for unknown causes.
