A car crashed into a trailer and got dragged more than one kilometer on Merida’s Periferico

Miraculously, the driver saved his life, but had to be transported to the hospital for the injuries he sustained.

An unusual accident occurred in the early hours of this Friday morning, march 3rd, which left a driver severely injured and the total loss of his vehicle, after his car got “hooked” in the back of a cargo truck and was dragged for almost a kilometer, on Merida’s Periferico west ring road.

The events occurred around 2:00 a.m. this Friday morning, when the driver of a Kia Forte was driving in a drunken state from north to south in the outer lane of the aforementioned road and upon reaching the 37th kilometer marker, for unknown reasons, he collided with a moving trailer carrying iron and concrete blocks.

Upon impact, the car was caught in the rear of the heavy unit without the driver noticing and continued on its way for more than one kilometer.

It was only when several people alerted the driver of the trailer that was dragging the vehicle, when he stopped and got out of the trailer, he realized what was happening.

Emergency services were alerted, and agents of the Public Safety Department and paramedics arrived at the site, who rescued the driver of the Kia, who had been pinned down.

He miraculously saved his life, but had to be taken to the hospital due to his injuries.
