During the inauguration of the 86th Banking Convention in Merida, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador made a “mistake” when he called the Governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila, “PRESIDENT”, which was celebrated by those attending the event, who celebrated the “appointment”.
In response, the federal president only smiled and indicated “one more unveiling”, alluding to the Yucatan Governor’s intentions to run for the presidential candidacy in the 2024 elections.
During the inauguration, López Obrador emphasized that Mexico and Yucatán are attractive for investment, which is why the Federal Government will continue to support the development of the country and the Yucatán Peninsula region, he said.
Before the tax authorities, the leaders of the commercial banks and the governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal, the head of the federal executive emphasized that his government did not change the rules of operation of the Bank.
“The rules for the operation of the Bank were not changed. Keep doing legal business in Mexico. Keep making legitimate profits, keep promoting development with justice in our country,” he said.
Historic numbers
He emphasized that Mexico is an attractive country for investment, where there are currently 21,660,000 workers registered with the IMSS, with an average salary that is the highest in history, at 16,000 pesos per month.
In his speech, the Secretary of Finance, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, ruled out that Mexico faces a systemic financial risk, due to the recent bankruptcies and plummeting stock value of some banks in the world.
He argued that neither the Bank of Mexico lent itself to the game of lowering its rates excessively, nor did the central government take cheap debt taking advantage of the low rates, beyond what Congress approved.
In his speech, Vila Dosal pointed out that Yucatan has the infrastructure to attract investments and events of international stature.
