This Thursday, during the ‘morning’ conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that Sedena personnel will be in charge of the construction of the new O’Horán hospital in Mérida.
The president informed that this work will be carried out at the request of the governor, Mauricio Vila Dosal, and it is expected that work will begin once the Gran Parque de la Plancha project is completed.
López Obrador also informed that Kukulcán Park, home of the Leones de Yucatán baseball team, will be refurbished, as was done with the Tigres de Quintana Roo stadium.
Last August, Vila Dosal delivered to the head of the Instituto de Salud para el Bienestar (Insabi) the project for the new O’Horán hospital, which now, with the president’s approval, will soon become a reality, which will improve the health system in Yucatán.
What will the new O’Horan hospital be like?
In the project presented, the number of beds will increase from 254 to 300, besides building 15 operating rooms and doubling the number of medical offices. It is expected to have 64 thousand square meters of construction, in an area of 119, which is equivalent to 11 hectares; almost triple the size of the O’Horán hospital.
Where will it be located?
More than 100 years after the construction of the first hospital on Itzaes Avenue, this new construction will be located in the south of the city of Merida, near the Materno Infantil and the Korea-Mexico Friendship hospitals.
