According to the Yucatecan news website Grillo de Yucatán, a property that was being used as a brothel in Uaymitún has been raided by police officers.

PROGRESO Yucatán, Monday 03/06/2023.- After an impressive operation, SSP police arrested 17 people on Sunday, March 5th, 11 men and 6 women, in a property located at Kilometer 17.95 of the Uaymitún highway, for the crime of prostitution, kidnapping and human trafficking.

The women detained were being allegedly prostituted, and forced to have sexual relations with businessmen, politicians, and other wealthy people, but one of them managed to escape and denounced the crime of which she was a victim.

Police officers from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) keep complete secrecy about the fact, so that, unofficially, information was leaked and it was said that the detainees are from the states of Quintana Roo and Tabasco, presumably part of a gang dedicated to human trafficking.

It was also reported that during the operation they seized a large sum of cash, hundreds of thousands of pesos, several checks for large amounts, and drugs; Last night, the coastal area from Telchac Puerto to Chicxulub Puerto was guarded by SSP agents.

According to information collected, the complaint was made by a woman who managed to escape and notified the authorities, who were told that in a house located on the Chicxulub-Uaymitún highway, at kilometer 17.9, at the entrance to “Lugdi,” there were captive kidnapped women forced to prostitution.

The complainant also said that the house was set up as a brothel and rented by a criminal group, for 60,000 pesos a month; So far neither the SSP nor any other municipal or state authority has issued any official statement on the subject.
