MÉRIDA, Yucatan, March 24, 2023.- The most winning club in Latin America, Leones de Yucatán, continue working furiously in camp where this Friday the Dominican Cristhian Adames emphasized: “With the same goal, to be champions once again”; another great news was the arrival of former big leaguer, Miguel Aguilar, who will reinforce the Yucatecan pitching staff in 2023.
The Melenudos, as usual, arrived at Parque Kukulcan Alamo at 2:30 pm to begin their extra preparation program, made up of groups where Art Charles, Jose “Cafecito” Martinez, Sebastian Valle, Cristhian Adames and Major League star Alcides Escobar worked.
Before starting their training sessions, Cristhian “La Bujía” Adames, Alan López and rookie Adolfo Valdez, talked to the media where they expressed their ideologies, objectives and answered all the questions of the fans.
“I feel very well, thank God I am healthy and happy to start a new season, give 100% and achieve the goal we have had since the beginning of training which is the Bicampeonato,” said Adames who was a key player in the 2022 championship and the MVP of game six of the Serie del Rey.
The youngster from Guasave, Alan Lopez, also talked about the atmosphere in the clubhouse and his goal with the champions.
“The truth is the atmosphere is very nice, everyone from the oldest to the youngest, you are always well received, we are in contact, it is a very nice harmony that we have as a team, and it has been demonstrated with several challenges that we have achieved,” said Lopez.
At the same time, the skilled outfielder, Adolfo Valdez, shared his feelings and message for all the young players who are looking for a place in professional baseball.
“I am proud to belong to this great organization, and that they give me the opportunity to be here again, I will show the manager and the organization that I can be here on the team, and whatever they need me for I will be there,” said Valdez.
At the end of the “Media Day”, the Melenudos began bullpen, batting and fielding training. The novelty was the integration of the experienced arm of Miguel Aguilar, who will be part of the brand new 2023 pitching staff.
Jorge Rondón, Alex Tovalín, Cristhian Prado, Dalton Rodríguez, Ian Medina and rookie Said Gutiérrez Jr. also pitched.
