In just three days, 97 cases of hypertension and 78 of diabetes mellitus were detected, informed Teresa Chulines Valencia, coordinator of Prevention and Health Care at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Last weekend, 854 family medicine consultations were provided and 13 surgeries were performed.
As part of the strategy to improve the care provided to beneficiaries, five 2023 Continuity Days were held during weekends, so that from Friday, March 10 to Sunday, March 12, medical consultations were offered from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to a total of 854 people.
Chulines Valencia detailed that among the diseases most detected was arterial hypertension, with 97 detections related to this ailment, as well as 78 cases of diabetes.
Regarding the detection of cervical cancer, 43 examinations and 212 PrevenIMSS check-ups were performed. She also indicated that in addition, at the second level of care, 13 surgical interventions in general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, gynecology and traumatology and orthopedics were performed in three second level units of the State Representation.
The coordinator of Prevention and Health Care emphasized that these actions will be continued and called on the population to participate in the next day from March 24 to 26, where family medicine consultations will be provided, screening will be reinforced through PrevenIMSS, the agenda of diagnostic studies and treatment as appropriate.
Among the units that will participate in the Sixth National Continuity Day are the General Zone Hospital (HGZ) No. 1 “Dr. Abraham Azar Farah”, the Family Medicine Units (UMF) 10 in Santa Lucía; 11 in Novia del Mar, 13 in Ciudad Concordia, in the municipality of Campeche; also number two located in the municipality of Champotón; three in La Joya; five in Escárcega and number 12 in Santa Isabel, Ciudad del Carmen.
“In the PrevenIMSS modules, they will measure weight, height, detect diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol, as well as complement vaccination schedules according to the corresponding age group, including the biologic against seasonal influenza,” he concluded.
