Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, noted as one of the figures related to the so-called fourth transformation (4T) of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), was elected as the new President of the National Electoral Institute (INE) until April 2032, after being selected in the draw carried out by the deputies during the early hours of this Friday, March 31.
The other three chosen to be the new councilor and councilors of the INE are: Jorge Montaño Ventura, Rita Bell López Vences and Arturo Castillo Loza.
The new advisers of the National Electoral Institute (INE) were elected through the insaculation method (draw) by the deputies in the San Lázaro legislative compound, during the early hours of this Friday, after they could not reach an agreement during the session held yesterday.
Taddei Zavala is president commissioner of the Sonoran Institute of Transparency; She is the cousin of Jorge Luis Taddei, super delegate of the federal government in Sonora and aunt of Pablo Daniel Taddei, director of the company Litio MX.
She was one of the six applicants whose closeness to Morena was questioned by Maite Azuela, a member of the technical committee that evaluated the applicants.
The process lasted almost three hours, first because the parties agreed at the last minute to set a position on the agreement for the insaculation.
Movimiento Ciudadano was the only group that voted against the agreement. Its coordinator Jorge Álvarez Máynez expressed: “don’t let anyone fool you, the Constitution says that electoral advisers must be elected by two thirds of the plenary. The insaculation does not replace the election, a process of the greatest importance has been stained and the political responsibility of exercising our functions and responsibilities has been renounced.
However, the PRD member Luis Espinosa Cházaro clarified that the insaculation procedure is constitutional and accused MC of being a light group, that releases half-truths, lies. “Dividing the opposition is being scabs and being at the service of the State. We are not going to stain the process or discredit those who we insaculate, ”he added.
The Juntos Haremos Historia coalition -Morena, PT and PVEM- stressed that those who were designated by this method will have all the legitimacy to conduct the 2024 and 2030 presidential elections.
