SEGEY with a strong presence in the FILEY

MÉRIDA, Yucatán, March 9, 2022.- The Ministry of Education of the Government of the State of Yucatán (SEGEY), resumes its on-site participation in the Yucatán International Reading Fair (FILEY), with more than 70 activities open to the general public and school visits from March 11 to 19 at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention Center.

The agenda includes book presentations, talks, conferences, panel discussions, workshops to promote reading, a meeting of chroniclers and historians of the Yucatán peninsula, the Multicultural Meeting Between Reading and Art, talks aimed at readers and teachers, the “Let’s Read Together” Colloquium, which will present the results of research, reflections and pedagogical experiences carried out by teachers from different educational levels, and various activities throughout the day at the agency’s stand.

In addition to the initiatives focused on the literary theme, there will also be the presence of the artistic and cultural part of the Ministry of Education, with the staging of plays aimed at elementary school students, the presentation of videos of Art Education teachers compiling their most outstanding learning strategies and the participation of the Cultural Missions Program Orchestra, which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The complete program for days and times of the more than 70 Segey activities at Filey can be consulted and downloaded from the official website of the agency at educación.yucatan.gob.mx. Admission is free and open to schools and the general public.

The presentation of books and magazines on topics such as Attention Deficit Attention Disorder, learning located in Mayan communities, the corners of Merida, poetry, essays, stories, and legends.

The talks will address various educational, cultural, and social topics, such as analysis and reflection on the New Mexican School, the importance of the socio-emotional aspect and suicide prevention, seedbed writers in the Mayan language, actions to promote reading, gender equality, history of education, the creation of handcrafted books in the Mayan language, art, and disability and knowledge of indigenous peoples.

As part of the reading festival, the Ministry of Education will also hold a Meeting of Historians and Chroniclers of Yucatán on a day that will include the participation of Campeche and Quintana Roo.

SEGEY’s agenda at FILEY is possible thanks to the inter-institutional linkage work carried out by the Coordination of Culture and Editorial Promotion of the General Directorate of Educational Development and Regional Management and the enthusiastic participation of the different educational levels, the State Reading and Writing Program and the State Fine Arts Center.
