A man around 60 years old drowned on Easter Sunday afternoon in the port of Progreso, at the height of 80th Street on the traditional boardwalk.
According to reports, around 5 p.m., Raúl H.H.N. had gone into the sea and soon began to ask for help as the rough waves were dragging him. His children managed to pull him out of the water to give him first aid, but they couldn’t do anything and the man died.
Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene after receiving the call for help, but they could not do anything to save him.
The area was secured while personnel from the Forensic Medical Service arrived at the scene to collect the body.
