The Asociación de Vecinos de Altabrisa A.C. (Altabrisa Neighbors Association) informed that it is preparing a leaflet to be distributed massively among the Yucatecan community in the next few days, in which it will offer information documenting “the lies with which Mayor Renán Barrera” is trying to justify to the public the Tho’ Park project, informed the president of the citizens’ organization, Rubén Presuel Polanco.
Among the premises of the edition will be to inform why the project “is not a park, nor is it sustainable and its construction is only for the benefit of the Mayor’s friends; it will also explain, with solid arguments, why it is not a metropolitan park,” he said.
The representative said that another topic that the chart will include are the arguments that Renán Barrera Concha has used to cover his intention to concession or privatize the public space of Mérida’s parks, which are an asset of the city; in addition, the mayor’s strategy for the creation of an operating agency to “manage” the spaces and the benefits that these businessmen would obtain will be reported.
Another point will be dedicated to the cultural and archeological heritage under the jurisdiction and responsibility of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the rules and regulations of the archeological zone that must be respected and why it is not possible to build and modify the natural environment of these assets, he added.
“The printed material will detail with bases the reasons why the Tho’ Park project is not sustainable and it is not convenient to deforest five hectares of low deciduous forest, habitat of more than 139 species of flora and wild fauna, including birds, mammals and reptiles that make up this ecosystem that provides environmental services,” he said.
In addition, the triptych will detail the road problems that this “urban intervention” will cause to the area and will detail the reasons why the costs are greater than the benefit and will include a breakdown of the technical study carried out by the Sustainable Mobility Observatory of Merida, among other points.
Presuel Polanco recalled that parallel to the creation of this material with which they intend to inform the entire Yucatecan population of the abuses of Renan Barrera, the organization is in the final stretch of the integration of an injunction that will be filed to stop the exchange of land, between lot 460, and a polygon consisting of three lots adjacent to lot 521, “We are determining the appropriate term to file the injunction and we are studying with our legal advisors the possibility of more than one,” he concluded.
