MÉRIDA, Yucatan, April 21, 2023.- A total of 30 undocumented persons were detained last night while traveling aboard a van on the Merida-Campeche federal highway, in the vehicle there were men, women and minors.

According to information obtained, the seizure occurred when officers of the Secretariat of Public Security noticed a Ford van with license plates from Chiapas driving suspiciously, so they asked the driver to stop for a search.

When the agents opened the doors of the vehicle, they discovered that it was full of people with features that were not common in the state and when they asked for their identification they realized that some of them were from Brazil and India. None of them spoke Spanish.

The migrants were taken to the National Migration Institute (INM) while the driver of the van was detained to determine who was responsible.

This rescue brings to 375 the number of undocumented migrants that have been secured by the authorities in different parts of the state.
