MÉRIDA, Yucatán’s Attorney General’s Office reported that the investigations into the murder of a Yucatecan businessman, whose body was found on Sunday, April 2nd, in the undergrowth near the Mérida-Motul highway, are at an advanced stage of decomposition.
According to initial reports, the businessman Carlos “N” was presumably murdered during a robbery, and authorities say that the investigation is advancing, and that they will soon catch the murderers.
The authorities announced that since last Friday, relatives of the victim reported his disappearance and filed the corresponding report with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
It is known that on Thursday, March 30th, Carlos “N” received a call from one of his former employees, who asked to see him give him information “about matters of his interest”.
The businessman left his home in a pickup truck, headed for the Mérida-Motul highway, and never returned home.
Body found
A day later the search began, and on Sunday evening, agents of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) found the body of the businessman on the highway near the town of Sakolá, in the municipality of Motul.
Based on the investigations, the FGE and the SSP established that the motive for the crime was robbery and ruled out any relation to organized crime.
The authorities informed that the investigation is progressing for the prompt arrest of the probable perpetrator(s).
