MÉRIDA, Yucatan, April 15, 2023. The president of the Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana Yucatán (COPARMEX) Beatriz Gómory Correa, expressed that what is happening with the Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales (INAI) strongly disrupts the country’s democracy and they are analyzing what actions to take.
This is due to the situation that the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) is going through, not being able to meet due to the lack of appointments by the Senate, and the audios that have come to public light in recent days where it is revealed that the Presidency of the Republic wants to leave the institution inoperative.
“The government says that we have to fight corruption and this is the way to do it, through transparency, make the information open to everyone”.
He emphasized that COPARMEX has made a very firm statement in the sense that time cannot be allowed to pass for appointments of officials, and they will be very attentive that this is done in a short period, otherwise, they will analyze the actions to follow.
“This situation is serious, the autonomous institutions are to strengthen democracy, to counterbalance power, and if they cannot work as they should, of course, it affects the construction of democracy”.
Likewise, he called on all citizens to be informed of this situation and how it directly affects their daily lives, since it is everyone’s responsibility.
Just yesterday, April 14, the national COPARMEX took a position on this matter and demanded the Senate fulfill its duty and make the missing appointments before the end of the session on April 30.
