A video shared on social media shows the moment a fire broke out inside one of the hangars belonging to the iFly aviation school located at Mérida International Airport.

After Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (Asur) announced that a plane from this institution suffered a mechanical failure on the general aviation runway, Facebook users began sharing images and videos questioning the safety of their aircraft.

One of them was shared by the user “Capi Koy”, in which maintenance personnel from iFly, dressed in red and white polo shirts, are seen fixing what appears to be an aviation instrument.

The images show two people holding the device on a plastic table and a third person with a screwdriver gun. When the tool is activated, a flame ignites the equipment, as well as a cloth covering it.

One of the workers drops the cloth in fright and tries to extinguish it with his feet, but the efforts to mitigate the flames are in vain and he ends up kicking it near an aircraft stored in the hangar.

After several attempts to put out the fire, two of his colleagues had to use a fire extinguisher to put it out, to the surprise of other people who were in the area.

It should be noted that these incidents occur within their facilities at the airport terminal, which is why the incident was kept secret. However, this has not been the case with recent air accidents.
