A pedestrian hit by a passenger truck in Merida on Wednesday ended up seriously injured in a hospital.
The accident occurred when the truck driver was trying to turn a corner in the “115” subdivision, but failed to see a pedestrian crossing the street.
According to what was reported at the site of the incident, a passenger truck of the Amapola Route was traveling northbound on 66 C Street of the above-mentioned subdivision. The driver, upon reaching the intersection with 97 A Street, maneuvered to turn to his right, but did not see a pedestrian crossing the street, so he hit him, knocked him down and ran over him.
Allegedly, one of the front wheels of the truck crushed the pedestrian, who was left lying on the ground and seriously injured.
The same truck driver stopped and notified the company of the unit, while police and SSP Yucatan paramedics arrived, who were in charge of flagging down the crossing and attending to the injured man, who was hospitalized on an emergency basis.
