More than one million pesos were lost with the material damages caused by the flames originated as a result of a short circuit in the store called El Palacio de Hierro, hours after it was closed by the employees a few days ago, according to estimates made by the owners after the damage count.

As may be recalled, this establishment caught fire hours after it was closed by the employees who worked there. Black smoke began to emanate from inside, which generated an important mobilization of the security authorities.

First the Municipal Police and then the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene to take knowledge of the facts.

Uniformed officers, friends, acquaintances, neighbors and even civilians passing by the place joined in to support and try to suffocate the flames with buckets of water, while the firemen arrived.

The business called El Palacio de Hierro is located on 44th Street between 39th and 41st, one block from the Historic Center of the city. This business had total losses in materials stored in the store.

The commercial establishment is dedicated to the sale of hammock threads, fabrics, rings, rocking chairs, among other things. Despite the efforts of the corresponding authorities to lessen the damage caused by the conflagration, all was in vain.

After smothering the flames, members of the Mexican Army guarded the area and the business while they counted the losses. After the fire, the owners and employees of the establishment, as well as the authorities, reported that the damage exceeded one million pesos, both in merchandise and in the structure of what was the establishment.
