An underage individual will spend the next few days in prison after being charged with homicide for shooting his family with a shotgun and causing the death of a grandmother in Yucatan.
On April 16, a 16-year-old teenager allegedly fired a firearm at four people in the town of Tixcacaltuyub.
Unfortunately, the young man managed to injure an elderly couple, both around 80 years old, a 16-year-old teenager, and a 33-year-old woman, who turned out to be his own relatives.
According to information gathered in the investigation file that resulted in case number 23/2023, the accused was chasing his cousin, which led to family members defending him. At one point, he fired a shotgun, injuring his cousin in both legs, and injuring his cousin’s grandmother in the back, while causing a hand injury to his grandfather and aunt.
After the incident, the elderly woman died on the spot, while the injured were taken to a hospital.
The attacker was arrested, and prosecutors presented him before the court. The Specialized Vice-Prosecutor’s Office for Adolescent Justice of the FGE formulated the charge for homicide, and a second hearing was scheduled for April 24 to carry out the linkage to the process.
