On Monday, April 10th, it was reported that a plane from the iFly pilot school suffered a breakdown at the Mérida International Airport. The aircraft was heading toward the hangar area at the time of the incident.

At around 1:30 pm, the plane landed on one of the runways at the terminal and on the way to the hangar area, one of the landing gear’s tires sank, causing the plane’s belly to settle on the ground, without any injuries.

The cause of the mechanical failure that caused this incident is unknown, which could have been much more serious if it had occurred during landing or touching down on the runway.

An report issued by airport authorities states that a Cessna D495 plane with registration XB-NTH, belonging to the iFly school, suffered an incident during the taxiing maneuver.

This was after the left leg of the main landing gear retracted, leaving it stranded on the General Aviation platform until it was towed to the facilities of the school without reports of injuries or damage to the surface.
