A man and a woman had to quickly exit the vehicle right in the middle of Mérida’s Periférico when it caught fire.
On Thursday, April 27th, a vehicle caught fire on the Manuel Berzunza highway (better known as Periférico) in the city of Mérida after its occupants noticed a lot of smoke coming from the engine compartment and quickly decided to pull over.
However, when they stopped, they saw flames starting to come from inside the vehicle so they quickly got out to seek help, as they were in the middle of the beltway with no nearby location where they could get water to extinguish the fire that was beginning to engulf the unit.
It was learned that the Nissan Tsuru car that was engulfed in flames may have suffered a short circuit, as it had been experiencing problems for hours prior to the incident, but the driver had neglected to have it checked, and ultimately his negligence cost him.
According to the couple, they were attended to by paramedics who arrived at the scene, and it was confirmed that they had no injuries. Later, the vehicle was removed and the owners went to the Secretary of Transportation to carry out the necessary procedures regarding the incident.
