On Monday, it was reported that the earthquake alert had been activated in Mexico City due to an error caused by maintenance work, according to the C5 in the capital.
The alarm sounded at 851 sites and shortly after, authorities offered an apology “for the inconvenience and effects that this incident has caused.”
The C5 added that “the review is ongoing at the moment to disclose the causes and further information on this issue. We will continue to keep you informed.”
Meanwhile, citizens evacuated buildings as indicated by the Civil Protection protocol.
