MÉRIDA, Yucatan, May 4, 2023. – For this week, the second heat wave will remain over the west, center, east, south, and southeast of the Mexican Republic, as well as in the Yucatan Peninsula, with a hot to very hot environment and maximum temperatures above 40 °C in areas of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatan, according to the report of the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
Specifically in the Yucatan Peninsula, cloudy to cloudy skies with showers and intervals of showers in Campeche and isolated showers in Yucatan and Quintana Roo are forecast. Temperate in the morning and hot to extremely hot in the afternoon. East wind from 20 to 30 km/h with gusts of up to 50 km/h in the region.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma of Meteorología Yucatán, indicates that an extensive anticyclone continues over the region, so this Thursday there will be a very hot atmosphere throughout the region and stable weather in Yucatán, Campeche, and Tabasco, while in the north of Quintana Roo, there could be scattered rains.
Likewise, it calls to take precautions due to the fact that, during this week, extremely hot (40 to 42 °C) to sweltering (42 to 45 °C) temperatures are expected in the states of Yucatan and Campeche.
